Not needed. Three larger meals, six smaller meals, whatever. It sounds like the point of regular meals (whether lots or a few) is to keep your body from clicking into a "must save some for later" mode.

fast the body burns calories) was unaffected by differences in meal
timing. "Other studies also show that eating frequency has no effect on a
person's overall metabolic rate," says Collins.
